Operating Steps, Precautions and Instructions of Magnetic Agitator

Magnetic agitator operating steps

  • Place the magnetic stir bar in a beaker containing solution.

  • Place the beaker on the heating plate and insert the sensor element.

  • Turn on the power, adjust the heating speed, and turn on the stirring.

  • When stirring, slowly adjust the speed knob. Adjusting too fast will cause the stirring rotor to detach from the magnetic force of the magnet and keep jumping. Quickly turn the knob to stop, wait for the agitator to stop, and slowly increase the speed of stirring until it gradually stabilizes. For liquids with high viscosity at room temperature, the thermal conductivity is often poor. When heating and stirring, the temperature should not be raised too quickly to avoid container rupture. The constant temperature device should be fully utilized, and the sensor element should be inserted into the external water jacket step by step for gradual temperature rise.

  • The predicted temperature inside the container can be slowly adjusted by turning the temperature control knob. When the red light is on, the temperature indicated by the red mark is the temperature of the liquid with the measuring element inserted.

Maintenance and precautions of magnetic agitator

  • Magnetic agitator must be reliably grounded to ensure the safety of equipment and personal safety.

  • The aluminum pan on the heating plate surface will corrode or heat and emit gas if liquid falls on it, which will affect the heating element and motor, and the power should be turned off immediately to clear it.

  • For liquids with high viscosity at room temperature (such as epoxy resin), the thermal conductivity is often poor. When heating and stirring, the temperature should not be raised too quickly to avoid container rupture. The constant temperature device should be fully utilized, and the sensor element should be inserted into the external water jacket step by step for gradual temperature rise.

Precautions for using magnetic agitator

  • If the agitator jumps or does not stir during stirring, please cut off the power and check whether the bottom of the beaker is flat and whether the position is correct. At the same time, please measure whether the current voltage is between 220V ± 10V, otherwise the above situation will occur.

  • Magnetic agitator equipment should be kept clean and dry, with no solution flowing into the machine to avoid damage. The power should be turned off when not working.

  • The heating time should not be too long, and intermittent use can increase its lifespan. Do not heat when not stirring. The magnetic agitator is a laboratory instrument used for mixing liquids, mainly used for stirring or simultaneously heating and stirring low viscosity liquids or solid-liquid mixtures. The basic principle is to use the principle of the same sex repulsion and opposite sex attraction of the magnetic field to push the magnetic agitator with magnetic properties placed in the container to rotate in a circle, thereby achieving the purpose of stirring the liquid. With the heating temperature control system, the sample temperature can be heated and controlled according to specific experimental requirements, maintaining the temperature conditions required for the experiment to ensure that the liquid mixture meets the experimental needs.

  • Medium speed operation can work continuously for 8 hours, and high-speed operation can work continuously for 4 hours. Avoid violent vibration during work.

  • Electricity: The power socket should use a three-hole safety socket and must be grounded properly. The magnetic agitator uses the characteristics of magnetic substances repelling each other to push the magnetic agitator to rotate by constantly changing the polarity at both ends of the base. Through the rotation of the magnetic agitator, the sample is driven to rotate to evenly mix the sample.
