WORKING PRINCIPLE
The WFE (Wiped Film Evaporator) operates through a straightforward yet highly efficient process. The feed material is introduced at the top of the unit and evenly distributed along the inner shell surface by a rotating plate. Specially configured wipers continuously spread and renew the feed, forming a thin film that enhances heat transfer efficiency, even for highly viscous fluids.
As the low-boiling components evaporate, the vapor passes through an entrainment separator to minimize liquid droplet carryover. The purified vapor is then directed through a vapor line to an external condenser (if applicable) for liquefaction. In applications requiring minimal pressure drop, the evaporator's central section integrates a condenser, converting the unit into a short-path or molecular distillation system. Here, the vapor condenses on the external surface of the tube bundle and exits via a centralized condensate outlet.
Meanwhile, the high-boiling components flow along the shell wall and are discharged through the product outlet. The wipers play a critical role in ensuring smooth downward movement of the product. To maintain optimal operation, the concentrate must remain fluid at the processing temperature. Various rotor designs are available to accommodate different product viscosities, operating pressures, and process requirements.

The scraper system pushes the liquid from a thin film through the rotation process, and hence it provides the appropriate evaporation efficiency and also reduces its operating time.
The high-precision pipe made from glass allows the liquid to create a unified thin film over the hot surface.
The Scraper system is built of SUS 316L and PTFE; all the other parts that come in contact with the liquid or gas are usually created from high borosilicate glass 3.3 and PTFE, as both the elements have an excellent corrosion resistance properties.
You can control the temperature and keep it to the absolute level. The Agitated Thin Film Evaporator can reach up to 260°c temperature.
